The trip exists. It has a name, the dates are in, and the group agreed on the town back in August. Open it now and every day after the first one is empty: Saturday has no stops, Sunday has no dinner, and Monday is a drive home and nothing else.

Nobody is refusing to plan. Everyone is waiting for someone else to suggest the first thing, because suggesting means opening twelve tabs and reading lists written for somebody else's trip. So the plan sits there, and the week before you leave it gets filled from whatever the first search turned up.

This is for the person who made that trip: the dates are set, three or four people are on it, and the days need filling before anyone books dinner.

Start each day from something to react to

When this is done, every day has a shape: somewhere to be in the morning, something for the afternoon, and a dinner that is near where the day ends. The way to get there is to stop writing days from nothing and start editing a draft.

Editing is easier than writing for everyone, and in a group it is far easier. "That one, not that one" takes ten seconds in a shared plan. "Does anyone have ideas for Saturday" takes a week.

A useful draft has to know the trip, though. A list of the twenty best things to do in a town knows the town. It does not know that Saturday ends on the far side of the lake, that two of you do not hike, or that the budget is mostly gone after the Friday dinner.

Ask from the day that needs it

MyTripLogix helps the person who made the trip fill its empty days by putting suggestions on each day of the plan, drafted from what the trip already knows. On the Plan tab, open a day and press one of the suggestion buttons, such as Activities or Dinner. TripLogix AI reads the destination, the season, who is coming, where the day already goes and what is left in the budget, and proposes places that fit. Each one has an add button, and nothing goes on the day until someone presses it.

Work from the fixed points outwards. If Saturday already has a booked tour at 10:00, ask for Dinner first, because dinner should sit near where the day ends. Then ask for Activities to fill the afternoon between the two.

A stop that is still just a name, "lake" or "old town", has its own ideas button that suggests what to do there. And if the plan arrived as a PDF or an email from someone else, import it on the web, and it becomes a trip, day by day, so there is something to ask from in the first place.

Planning is a group job, and the free plan now allows four collaborators on a trip. The one who cares about food can ask for Dinner on every night while someone else fills the mornings, which is how a girls' trip that actually gets taken gets planned.

Why a draft that knows the trip beats a list that knows the town

Take a three-day long weekend with three slots a day: morning, afternoon and dinner. That is nine decisions.

Start each one from a general search and every search has to restate the trip: the town, the month, who is coming, where that day already goes and how much is left to spend. That is five facts, typed nine times, and each search forgets them by the next tab. The results still are not about your Saturday, because the search never knew where your Saturday ends.

Start from the day and those five facts come from the plan. The draft for Saturday's dinner already knows Saturday finishes across the lake, so it does not suggest the place 40 minutes back the other way. The work left is the part only the group can do: choosing.

The same itinerary carries on after the trip. Photos file themselves against the days by timestamp and GPS, and the captions and the book's story are drafted from those days, which is where writing captions that say what the photo cannot picks up.

Fill the first empty day tonight

A trip where every day has a draft is one the whole group can finish in an evening. Start free and build the itinerary on the free plan: add the days and the one or two things already booked, then open the first empty day and press Activities. Everything TripLogix AI does on a free trip, and what Pro changes, is on the pricing page. If the trip is a big family one, planning a family reunion covers the parts no suggestion can.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI trip planner in MyTripLogix free?

Yes. Every TripLogix AI feature is on the free plan, with a limit on each trip: suggestions for a day, ideas for a stop, day descriptions, the trip summary, cover art, photo captions, the book's story, flights from a pasted confirmation and trip import. The free plan still has one active trip.

How many people can plan a free trip together?

Four collaborators on the free plan, and eight on Pro. Each of them can open a day and ask for suggestions, so the planning does not all land on one person.

Does the AI add places to my trip without asking?

No. Each suggestion comes with an add button, and nothing goes on the day until someone presses it. Anything you add can be moved or removed like a stop you typed yourself.

Can I turn a plan someone emailed me into a trip?

Yes, on the web. Upload the PDF or paste the plan, and it becomes a trip, day by day. Trip import is not in the iPhone app.

Plan the trip in one place, let your photos file themselves against it, and bring home a book of it. The free plan covers a whole trip.
